MESSAGE BY CHAIRPERSON

EMERITUS PROFESSOR DR. P.T. THOMAS

On behalf of the organising committee, I would like to extend a warm welcome to speakers, participants, government institution representatives, association representatives and all who are participating in the first APEC-COE Pilot Training in Supply Chain Security of Medical Products. As the host and organiser of this training, we are grateful for the tremendous support we received from participants from Malaysia and around the world.

At Taylor’s University, we believe in breaking new ground and this is indeed a significant event for our university and our country, Malaysia, that we are given the honour and the responsibility to conduct this first APEC-COE Training in Supply Chain Security of Medical Products in this region.

We are honoured to have such a distinguished, experienced and competent group of speakers from industry, government and non-governmental organisation at this training.  All the speakers readily accepted our invitation and the session chairs took on the added responsibility of coordinating the presentations in their sessions.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to our co-organiser, the APEC Harmonisation Center (AHC) for their support, guidance and collaboration. Their experience in organising similar workshops in different parts of the world was very useful in the helping us with this training.

We are also grateful to the Ministry of Health Malaysia, especially the Pharmaceutical Services Division and its Senior Director, Dr Ramli Zainal, for their unwavering support right from the time we indicated our interest to be a COE. We are also thankful for the support of the Policy and International Relations Division of the Ministry of Health.

We hope that this training will meet your expectations and ultimately help all of us to contribute towards providing good, safe and efficacious medicines for the population.
